Most women would love to have well shaped and fuller – plumper lips. Lip augmentation is a treatment which provides beautiful natural lips.
Patient assessment for lip augmentation
The doctor should assess the volume of the lips, the physiognomy and physical construction in order for the result to be perfectly harmonious and natural.
The ratio of the lip is 1.5 to 1 (lower – upper lip), which means that the lower lip must be slightly larger in order to appear perfectly natural, i.e. without any sign of intervention.

What techniques and materials are used?
There are two different techniques that can be performed by the surgeon. The first technique is to inject hyaluronic acid and the second involves the method of biorepair, i.e. the fat infusion from our own body.
Hyaluronic acid method:
There is a substance which is used only in the lips. The substance to be injected in the lips should be soft and of low molecular weight in order to provide a natural result. Hyaluronic acid is a natural structural component of the human body.It is a hydrophilic substance found in the connective tissues and helps in tissue hydration and water retention to them. The treatment is performed in the office. Initially an anesthetic cream is applied for about 20 minutes and then Dr Kretsis injects hyaluronic acid in the lips, allocating the substance in the upper and lower lip accordingly in order to provide a natural and beautiful result.
After the treatment there is a slight swelling which subsides in 24 hours. The patient can directly return to everyday activity.
Using fat from our own body:
It is a totally different technique. It is performed under local anesthesia in the body area from which we take the fat (usually the abdomen or buttocks).
We remove the fat using a tiny cannula (less than 1 mm). We do not suture the area and do not affect the surrounding skin. Afterwards we process the removed fat.
Specifically we place it in a centrifuge, where the pure fat is isolated. Then, through microinjections we evenly inject the fat into the lips (local anesthesia may be preceded if the patient desires so).
The result is directly visible, very natural and revitalizing, since fat contains huge quantity of stem cells, which offer cell regeneration and production of collagen and elastin.
