As we grow older the accumulative age problems of excessive sun exposure, pollution and general skin problems such as acne, the pigmentation, fine wrinkles make our skin to appear more aged.
By applying the appropriate chemical peel, the skin becomes younger, smoother, firmer and radiant. It is a noninvasive treatment, which is done at the office and has a minimum recovery time.
The peels are divided into two main groups. Synthetic peeling (chemical) with main representative the TCA (Trichloroacetic acid), salicylic acid and lactic acid and botanical peels (AHA) mainly based on alpha-hydroxy fruit acids.
The TCA chemical peel is a powerful peel which offers intense exfoliation on the skin or even in deeper skin layers and therefore it is suggested for the treatment of deep skin lesions such as scars after inflammatory acne.
The treatment is done at the office by Dr. Kretsis. Firstly we clean the skin by removing makeup and daily pollutants. In the following step, we apply a chemical solution on the skin which produced a controlled chemical wound to the skin and eventually exfoliates it in order to allow a new regenerated skin to appear.
The patient has a slight stinging sensation. The solution lasts for 5-8 minutes and then is neutralized from the face. We apply cold patches of frozen water or cold chamomile to relieve the skin.
For the healing process the patient will follow specific instructions given by Dr. Kretsis.
It is essential for the patient to apply sunscreen face cream the whole year.
During the first days the patient’s skin has a redness which after the 3rd day begins gradually to exfoliate and completes exfoliation on the 7th day.
The patient can return to everyday activity from the following day as long as she covers her face with make up.
It is a treatment that does not keep us away from any activity.
The chemical peel is effective in deep scars after severe inflammatory acne, contributing to the reduction of their depth
Botanical peels (AHA, alpha hydroxy fruit acids) brought a cosmetic revolution almost 10 years ago.
Since then they have been increasingly used in beauty products, and at the same time they have been used more and more in facial treatment as they are a very powerful anti-aging factor.
AHA in composition contains glycolic acid and sometimes azelaic acid.
With AHA we cause a controlled irritation and not a burn in order to provide skin’s cells renewal, to smooth skin texture, moisturize and strengthen skin’s resistance.
